This past semester in ethics, I have learned quite a lot when it comes to how philosophers judge others, their beliefs on the good or bad, as well as how to read their work. At first, it was extremely tough, I wasn’t getting much out of their published pieces and I felt that I was struggling and learning more in class rather than the readings. with the help of my boyfriend, he taught me how to break down sentences to fully understand the philosophers' papers. This helped a lot with Kant, the way he stated things were so complicated and I was very intimidated. Now I try to break down sentences every time I start the readings given to us. Throughout ethics, I struggled. I have to admit, as a retailing major, I would have never expected one of my hardest classes would have been ethics over my math courses. But I am getting through it and with enthusiasm. I wish I engaged more via Discord or Medium posts, but I showed up to almost every single class and tried to volunteer answers even if they may have not been one hundred percent right all the time. The best experiences in the class were the classes themselves because Professor Lindeman was always so passionate about the topic of discussion even when it was extremely complicated to explain. This passion she exhibited made me more interested in the conversations and lectures and helped me a lot during the writings of my medium posts. My ADHD has always gotten in the way of my reading, so having things simplified and explained clearly helped me throughout this experience.
